FESTEJO MUÑIZ 2025: A Night to Remember!

On Thursday, May 8th, the spirit of the Margarita Muñiz Academy came alive in a vibrant celebration at the stylish Cuban restaurant Doña Habana. FESTEJO MUÑIZ 2025 was more than just an event—it was a heartfelt tribute to a school that continues to shape the future of bilingual education in Boston and beyond.

The evening honored Diana Lam, a visionary educational leader and one of the Academy’s founding forces. Her legacy and continued commitment to equity in education set the perfect tone for the night. Serving as Master of Ceremonies was none other than José Massó, the beloved host of ¡Con Salsa!, the longest-running music show on WBUR 90.9FM and a cherished voice on National Public Radio.

Guests were also deeply moved by the presence and words of Dania Vázquez, the founding Head of School. As she prepares to retire at the end of this school year, her speech served as both a reflection on her remarkable leadership and a rallying cry for the continued mission of Muñiz Academy.

The night was filled with powerful tributes to the importance of bilingual education and the lasting impact of the Muñiz community. But it wasn’t just about the speeches—it was a full-on Latin party! Guests enjoyed mouthwatering food and cocktails, irresistible rhythms from Willie Colón y Su Grupo Chevere, and a Silent Auction packed with coveted items.

With music, dancing, laughter, and celebration, FESTEJO MUÑIZ 2025 was a beautiful reminder of what makes the Margarita Muñiz Academy so special: its people, its culture, and its unwavering dedication to student success.

Here’s to the next chapter—and to many more nights like this one!
