Our Head of School

Dan Abramoski is the 2nd Head of School for the Margarita Muñiz Academy since its founding in 2013.  He has worked at the school as Assistant Head of School since 2014, working closely with the founding Director, Dania Vazquez, to prepare students for college and beyond in the school’s dual language model. He has played a key role in shaping the school’s instructional vision, professional development, and culture of equity and inclusion.

An experienced educational leader, Dan has focused on strengthening academic excellence and expanding opportunities for students. Some of Dan’s strongest suits are in instructional leadership; creation and maintenance of a strong and welcoming community and culture; and all aspects of school operations. He has overseen the development of early college programs in partnership with Roxbury Community College and UMass Boston, providing students with equitable access to college-level coursework.  He has also championed initiatives in restorative justice, peer leadership, and personalized learning to foster a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Dan began his career as a high school social studies teacher in the Bronx, where he also served as a mentor and instructional leader. His passion for equity and student success led him to leadership roles, including Education Director at Operation Bootstrap and Clinical Teacher Educator with the Boston Teacher Residency, before joining Muñiz Academy.

Dan has been a guest lecturer at Lehman College, a MetLife Fellow at the Teachers Network Leadership Institute where he published research entitled The Missing Link: Connecting Teacher Research, Practice and Policy to improve Student Learning. He has also presented at both the American Education Research Institute and the International Conference of Teacher Research.

Dan has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Brown University, a Master of Arts in Social Studies from Teachers College at Columbia University, and a Master of Education from the School Leadership Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Dan is fluent in Spanish and brings a deep commitment to bilingual education and culturally responsive teaching.

An avid traveler, Dan enjoys travelling with his family to places such as Colombia, Japan, Puerto Rico, Iceland, Canada and places throughout the U.S. during school vacations.

Under Dan’s leadership, Margarita Muñiz Academy remains dedicated to empowering multilingual learners and preparing all students for success in college, career, and life.
